Patient Care Technician

Certified Patient Care Technician (CPcT) is one of the fastest growing industries in Allied Health.  Patient care technicians tend to ill and injured individuals under the supervision of doctors, nurses and medical professionals. Their duties include taking vital signs, collecting specimens, performing catheterization as well as assisting patients with eating, personal hygiene and grooming.  The main benefit over being a CNA is that while a CNA works under the supervision of a physician, Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), helping with patient healthcare needs; Patient care technicians perform many of the same duties as CNAs, with the addition of basic medical procedures such as administering medications. To be considered at the highest entry level tier as a PCT, you should have knowledge of basic nursing practices, ECG or X-ray technology or phlebotomy.
